Can the stand alone console be used in a Data Guard configuration? I assume not since it's intended for only one database and by definition, Data Guard is not. Just can't find confirmation anywhere in the docs yet.

TIA

Dave

That is a 9i document and therefore does not apply. The stand alone database console only exists in 10g.

Well since you didn't mention what version you were using, how was user52 supposed to know you were on 10g?

9i does have a standalone db console, and the same information referred to in the above link would apply to 10g.

If I am not mistaken the stand alone console in 9i is nothing more than the client side software. There is no stand alone console on the server side like in 10g.

Anyhow, sorry I didn't mention 10g, and apparently I need to find answers elsewhere because this site has been no help.

"Apparently" you need to understand how to pose your questions and do your homework regarding which tools are truly available to you.

If you spent less time demanding & criticizing answers and spent more time reading the documentation, you would have noticed where it CLEARY indicates:

"Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control provides access to the complete set of Data Guard features. Limited monitoring-only Data Guard functionality is available in Enterprise Manager Database Control."

So, I see now you could've just answered my question in the first place. But, instead you chose to be critical of me just like you claim I have been. You also chose to lecture me on how to pose questions and because I simply omitted the version of the database. None of which was necessary. I appreciate the info you provided. I just wish it had been in your first reply.

My apologies to user52 if I offended you. That was not my intent.
