Hi,
Iam a brand new DBA and I didn't know that I can do backup and recovery without using the enterprise manager,I mean I thought that RMAN requires EM to run,Please guide me through this.

RMAN does not require EM.
Start reading the fundamentals of backup and recovery.

Later look into RMAN concepts, configuration and implementation.
