Hello,

After shutting down an oracle9i database using Oracle9i Enterprise Manager, noticed that the Service window still shows Started for the status of "OracleServiceDB_name" service. Why?
What does start and stop OracleServiceDB_name in Services window do?

Thank you,
Mitra

As i know ,

Shutting down an Oracle database does not mean stopping Oracle service also. It will just close the database and free space from physical memory.

Oracle service starts automatically when one starts the machine or you can say its started by the OS (others correct me if wrong).

regards,
tarun
