How to connect to a remote server? [message #68785] Fri, 17 September 2004 19:50 Go to next message

I installed an OEM on a windows professional 2000. I can manage local database without problem. When I was trying to add a remote oracle9i, I failed. But I can connect to the database by telnet through sqlplus without problem.

My machine resides in a LAN. I reach the remote server through high speed.

Can someone help me out?

Hi,
what kind of OEM?
This one of 10g?
And then the normal or the grid control?
Or this one of 9i?
And then the stand-alone-console or the management server-version?

The OEM is a 9i. The database is also a 9i on solaris.

Hi,
if it is the stand-alone-console, you have to check if your tnsnames.ora is correct. Listener is running?
Can you make a tnsping on the instance of the remote db?
What error messages do you have?
If it is a EM with management server, running on both machines the agents?
