how do I configure the database connection .

I would think that it is described somewhere in the installation guide. Is it not?

Browse to the folder where you have downloaded and unzipped the Database zip file, and then double-click on "dbsetup.bat". it will open a window with options:

- Database options : Choose install a new DB
- Server Type : Choose Oracle

The GUI based Database setup wizard will take you through user creation and password management, and other data model related options.

Post installation, if you have connection issues: then have a look at my answer here http://www.orafaq.com/forum/mv/msg/188765/621262/#msg_621262 In that question OP had SQL Server DB, however, the only difference while connecting is that in SQL Server you need to connect as "SA" user instead of "SYSTEM" in Oracle.

I suggest you to read the Readme before.

Lalit

Thanks for your reply .

I have installed the database , however it is only showing P6 Professional_1 not PMDB .

So , I can not select it and make a connection . for P6 professional_1 after giving admuser password I am getting

" Bad public user name or password. Cannot load OCI DLL: oci.dll; " I am giving the right user name and password .

I have done all the dbsetup , which went thru .

Kindly help

>Bad public user name or password. Cannot load OCI DLL: oci.dll

That error could be because of following reasons:

1. You have not installed the Oracle client
2. You installed 64 bit Oracle and P6 needs 32 bit.
3. Your environment variable is not correctly set. Check the ORACLE_HOME and PATH
4. If you are on Windows 7 and above), then Run as Administration and try again

Lalit

I have installed 64 bit

The only supported 64 bit configurations are:

1. Windows Server 2008 SP2
2. Windows Server 2008 SP2
3. Windows Server 2003 with R2 SP2

In IT industry, we try to find the problem causing the error and not the opposite.
