I was told that in order to get involved in ecommerc/ebsuiness I have to learn Oracle/XML/JAVAscript/UNIX as opposed to getting my MCSE or maybe get both the OCP (DBA) certifications and the MCSE. What do you think? My understanding as well is that the OCP tests are not as difficult to get compared to the MCSE. Is this true?
If I were to get my OCP (DBA) do I start studying for the 8 or 8I tests and which books do I purchase to study for these tests.
Some of the sites I have been to state that I need to get these books as well as the Transcender tests,
Let me know if there are more books and sites I need look at so I can fully prepare for the tests. Please reply ASAP.

1. Oracle DBA Exam Cram: Test 1 and Test 2 ~
2. Oracle DBA Exam Cram: Test 3 and Test 4 ~
I can't see to find the test 5 from the exam cram series? what gives?
3. Oracle 8 Certified Professional DBA Certification Exam Guide
4. Oracle Certified Professional DBA Certification Exam Guide-what is the difference between this book and the one stated above in number 3 if any?
5. Oracle 8 : A Beginner's Guide (Oracle Series)
6. Oracle8: The Complete Reference (w/CD)

Are these books sufficient to pass the Oracle 8 series of exams or should I wait for the oracle 8I exams and when do they come out?

Help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Sincerely,

Hi Luis,
I read your messages about your interest in e-commerce. I want to work in this field, too and gathered some informations about the required knowledges in this Field. It is not easy to be qualified as e-commerce developer or consulter. I heard always 2 words "special generalist" or "general specialist" !.
I hope this helps:
1.Oracle: this is an absolut must. One of the best methodes to learn it quickly is to make the DBA-certificate. About your Questions in oracle8 or oracle8i track, I can say you that it is no difference between them. I wrote the beta-version of oracle8i track (200Q!! but only for 25$) of Administration and Backup/Recovery, and they are not as easy as the MCSEs exams (I am MCSE and it didn't take me so much time as for oracleDBA). But you should know, that the cert alone is not enough, experience is more important. oracle8i-cert will be availale at least in 2 months. That means, if you cannot wait, make the DBA8.
2.Java: an absolut must. For Developer it is advisable to make the java programmer cert, for consulter the java architect cert. I did the SCJP and it was really hard in comparison with MCSE exams. SCJA(Architect) is something easier.
3.Oracle-Web-Developer.
4.JDeveloper
5.Unix: this is a point without discussion: must-know.
6.Sybase: It is a big plus for you to know Sybase.
7.HTML and JavaScript: I don't think, that a e-commerce really need how to write long html-codes, since there are many tools, that can help the developer to develop web-sites.
8.XML: I don't know.
9.when you have some tips in this field, let me know, too.
